Meet New Characters at Characters!

The Napa Guerilla Gay Bar is BACK after a bit of a late summer hiatus.

For our next mission we head just north of Trancas and just west of Highway 29 to visit Characters Sports Bar & Grill inside the Napa Valley Marriott Hotel & Spa at 3425 Solano Avenue in Napa.

We'll assemble on Friday, September 18 - anytime after 6:00 until closing.

The beneficiary of this year's event will be the HIV/AIDS programs at the CARE Network at Queen of the Valley Hospital. With all the state budget cuts and the economic downturn it's more important than ever that we support their efforts!

Napa Valley AIDS Walk

Here's another mission with a purpose!

The 18th Annual Napa Valley AIDS Walk is currently in the planning stages. We're standing-by for information regarding the date and the location. But that doesn't mean we should just sit back. That means we need to get into action NOW soldier!

Our mission will be on several fronts:

• If you're "in country" (a.k.a. The Napa Valley or surrounding Greater Bay Area) then join our platoon! Sign-up to raise money and/or walk with us during the event. Just send an e-mail to us to join our team.
• If you're "on-assignment" outside the area then donate to the Napa Valley AIDS Walk via PayPal using our ChipIn page. We'll make sure you receive a charitable donation receipt (for income tax purposes) from the recipient organization. Here's the link:

The cocktail lounge at Jonesy's will be the perfect location for aerial maneuvers - you can almost imagine Goose and Maverick singing "You've Lost That Loving Feeling" to the recently out Kelly McGillis when you walk in.

Here's the intel:

• Jonesy's has a full bar - and will have drink specials just for us
• They offer appetizers in their bar - and are working on a food special or two as well
• Their "special potatoes" are legendary and they have their own brand of Bleu Cheese Dressing
• "Prime Rib Friday & Saturday Nights" may provide the reason for many of our carnivorous troops to move into the restaurant after a cocktail or two
• According to a Yelp reviewer - "The decor is masculine, dark wood, warm tones. You can watch planes take off . . . this is where (JAL) pilots train"
