Rest & Relaxation - You've Earned It

The troops have gone above and beyond the call of duty! When that's the case there is only one solution - Rest & Relaxation (R & R)!

We'll need to recover from a weekend deployment for Napa Valley Pride 2009 (June 19-21, 2009). It's going to be a very busy time. As a result, all active duty or reserve troops will be granted R & R.

In M*A*S*H, Hawkeye, Hot Lips, BJ, Radar, Trapper John and even Frank Burns went to Tokyo for their R&R. Here in the Napa Valley, we're going to:

(610 & 644 First Street in Napa)
Sunday, June 21, 2009
10:00 am to 3:00 pm

It will be like a great big U.S.O.!

What's in store?:
  • Brunch on the back deck
  • Mimosas and other libations
  • Appropriate pastries and other sweet treats
  • Special offers from the friendly Oxbow Public Market merchants
  • If you sign-up (or even reregister) at any Pride event for Friends of Oxbow you'll get a chance to win a raffle prize.
The merchants at Oxbow are working feverishly to devise items and deals that will please the senses as well as the pocketbook.

Let's face it - you've earned it! You deserve it!

Mission: Napa Valley Pride 2009 Kick-off

After a thorough analysis by our scouting team (it's a tough job but somebody has to do it), we have determined the location of our "Mission: Napa Valley Pride 2009 Kick-off."

We'll be heading north once again to the lovely hamlet of Yountville.  This time our target will be:

(6526 Yount Street in Yountville)
Friday, June 19, 2009
6:00 pm to 9:00 pm

Our advance intelligence tells us that drink specials will developed by the Bardessono team.  There is even a rumor that the mission will occur in an area normally reserved just for hotel guests - the pool.

Reinforcements Arriving Friday, June 19!

A MESSAGE FROM YOUR MISSION COMMANDER

Troops:

We are expecting a fair number of reinforcements to arrive at our location during the weekend of June 19-21, 2009.  Their home bases include San Francisco, Sacramento, Reno and Los Angeles, to name a few.

The Napa Guerilla Gay Bar MUST take advantage of this opportunity.  As a result, our reconnaissance team is making plans for a mission on Friday, June 19.  The goal?  To kick-off Napa Valley Pride 2009 and to make sure that our visiting troops get a good opportunity to see the platoon from the Napa Valley in action!

Remain on stand-by - at ease, Soldier!  As is the norm, mission details will be released on a "need to know" basis as the date approaches.

Remember - you can receive up-to-the-minute briefings by following us on Twitter or by joining our Facebook group.

That is all (for now)!

Respectfully,
Your Mission Commander

Raise Funds, Raise FUN!

Our next mission will be for humanitarian purposes!

One in Three people will receive a cancer diagnosis in their lives.  That includes folks of the fabulous persuasion too (and you all know who you are!)

Let's do something to help our community, our families, our friends and ourselves!

Mary's Pizza Shack (home of "Pizza, Pasta & Amore") at 3085 Jefferson Street in Napa will donate 20% of everything we spend on Monday, June 8, 2009 to the American Cancer Society on behalf of the Napa Valley Unity League's Relay for Life team.  That includes beer and wine purchases!  It even includes the purchase of gift cards!

That offer is good all day - but to make things really fun, we're planning to have "troops on the ground" as part of a Napa Guerilla Gay Bar mission from 5:00 pm to closing.

For this mission you'll need to bring a printed copy of one of these flyers:
Just give a copy of the flyer to the person taking your order!

A few notes:
  • This is good ALL DAY for dine-in, take-out and delivery, plus gift card purchases.  Why not have lunch AND dinner at Mary's?
  • We won't be able to hand out flyers at or near the restaurant.  As a result, you must bring them with you!  Don't have a printer?  We'll have some at the Napa Valley Unity League meeting on Monday, June 1.
  • Mary's only serves beer and wine.  I know that some of you prefer your fuel distilled.  Consider the cause - consider the mission - consider your fellow troops that will miss your presence!

A Very Special Mission to see a Very Special Person

In case you haven't heard:
This confluence of events absolutely begged for another mission!

Here's the advance intel on Silo's Jazz Club:
  • The show starts at 7 pm but show up anytime after 6:30 pm (there's a seminar on Identify Theft being held in the club until then)
  • It's located at 530 Main Street in the Napa Mill complex, adjacent to the Napa River Inn
  • They serve "fine wines carefully selected only from the best of Napa Valley wineries along with local micro-brewery draft beer from Napa Smith Brewery . . . delicious light fare treats (your mission commander has his eye on the very reasonably-priced 2005 Schramsberg Blanc de Blanc). They do not have a full-bar license . . . yet.
  • There is a $ 5.00 cover charge and a "two-item" minimum (coffee, pizza, cheese and dessert items satisfy the minimum - a bottle of wine for two people also satisfies the requirement). The complete menu is available for viewing on-line. UPDATE: Rumor has it that Silo's has just announced that Wednesdays will be 2-for-1 admission with $ 5.00 glasses of wine!
  • Tables can be reserved on-line. Why don't we all type "Napa Guerilla Gay Bar" in the "comments" section of the reservation form (maybe they'll attempt to seat us nearby one another - it's also great to let local businesses know who is spending money in their establishments!)
Now, you may be asking - "okay, what color do we wear this time?" The answer: GREEN! Kelly (Kellie?) Green if you've got it!

Okay, synchronize your watches!

See you on Wednesday, May 13 for an evening of wine (or beer or soft drinks) and song when the Napa Guerilla Gay Bar visits Silo's Jazz Club to see Kellie Fuller perform!

Roses and Victory Both Smell Sweet!

Rose and the entire crew at Pancha's in Yountville were absolutely amazing!

Service was fast, the music was hot (thanks to having DJ Rotten Robbie in the house and an absolutely amazing juke box) and the crowd had a ball. Quite a few troops picked up their weapon of choice - a pool cue - and attacked the tables.

Even with the less than optimal weather conditions we met lots of "new recruits". We also received reinforcement from some straight "Allies" (special thanks to Lona, Mel, Krista, Rob, Carolyn and others!)

One of the best moments of the evening was when Rose (the proprietor) turned down the music, stood up on the bar and thanked us all for coming. She even had us pose for a picture so she'll have a souvenir from our mission!

I think many of our troops will agree - Pancha's will definitely be on our list of future "R&R" locations.

Arguably our most successful mission to date! Thanks to everyone!
